Beginning as a way to express my thoughts and feelings, part of my work developed into the creation of ornate jugs. 

I struggle to think in three dimensions; therefore, I use clay as though it were paper. From my wobbly line drawing, I shape slabs of clay into 2D yet 3D forms that evoke a sense of fluidity and movement. As I sculpt, I pay close attention to the intricate details, ensuring each jug possesses its own unique personality.

I employ various techniques of embellishment. Colored underglazes add vibrancy and depth, ceramic pencil accentuates the contours and patterns. Textured decals bring an additional layer of visual interest, coded text (decal) & lustres.

Embedded within my designs is my secret language, inspired by the intricate beauty of binary code and the grids found in textiles. Drawing from my Welsh heritage, the code includes letters like ‘dd’ and ‘ll’, weaving elements of my cultural identity into the fabric of the artwork. It serves as a concealed form of communication, allowing me to express thoughts and emotions that might otherwise remain unspoken. Through this coded language, I expose elements of myself, sharing fragments of my inner world with those who take the time to decipher the patterns.

In each jug I create, there is a thought waiting to be discovered. A narrative unfolds as the observer examines the designs and delves into the symbolism hidden within the code. With each finished piece, I find solace in the act of creation, knowing that a part of me is embodied in every curve, every detail. My jugs are tangible expressions of my artistic journey, encapsulating moments of contemplation, and self-expression. They stand as testaments to the power of art to convey emotions and transcend language, inviting others to experience the depth and beauty of my unique artistic vision.
